Emeritus Professor Lionel S. Lewis has a conducted an extensive study on the Bernie Madoff Ponzi Scheme and has published four atricles in the journal Society about the Madoff investors. He is also writing a book about the Madoff scheme.  Article about his work can be found in the UB Reporter

In April 2011 at the Southern Sociological Society Annual Meeting in Florida, Professor Erin Hatton's book, "The Temp Economy" will be discussed by a panel of scholars at an "Author Meets Critics" session.

Professor Sampson Lee Blair was interviewed by USA Today for an article on how contemporary American parents attempt to share more household chores when husbands and wives are employed outside the home. The article appeared on May 4, 2009, and can be found here

Professor Sampson Lee Blair was quoted in The Washington Post on February 14, in a story concerning how increasing fertility rates are beginning to make families feel more cramped and to have less privacy in their homes. The story also addresses how many families are 'downsizing' their homes, as a result of the economic crisis. The full story can be read here.

Professor Erin Hatton research on the temp industry and its transformation in the US since World War II was the topic of a recent University at Buffalo News article.

Professor Sampson Lee Blair was quoted in USA Today on February 5, in a story on the growing incidence of familicide in the United States. The story can be found here.

Professor Sampson Lee Blair was quoted in a February 2 story in Live Science, in a story which dealt with the increasing numbers of murder-suicides among U.S. families. He discussed the linkages between economic stressors (e.g., job loss, recession, inflation) and dysfunctional family behaviors.
